QUESTIONS
& ANSWERS
Q. Could eating fatty foods be causing
my skin problems?
A. Scientific evidence now shows that foods
such as chocolate, fried foods, and sweets do
not cause acne in the majority of people. However,
it is much healthier to eat a well-balanced diet.
So, skip the fast food and substitute fresh nutritious
foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Drinking plenty of water also helps by flushing
toxins out of your body. If you do appear to be
sensitive to a particular food, cut it out of
your diet.
Q. Which cleansing products will work best
for my greasy skin?
A. Try a mild cleansing bar and toner.
By whisking away dead cells and excess grease
from the skin surface, you can prevent clogged
pores. Avoid using harsh scrubs or sponges. Follow
with a light, noncomedogenic moisturize that will
not clog pores and cause blackheads. Use an eye
gel, not eye cream or moisturizer around the delicate
eye area.
Q. After cleansing, my skin feels sore
and sensitive. Could it be the products I'm using?
A. Yes. Try switching to hypoallergenic
products for sensitive skin, which are fragrance
and lanolin-free. To remove any irritating residue,
flow cream or lotion cleansing with a toner. For
dry or sensitive skin, rinse well.
Q. Is there a time of day that is best
to use moisturizer?
A. No. Some people like
to apply it under make-up, although others like
it at bedtime. The best time to apply moisturizer
is after the skin has been hydrated with water
to help seal in moisture.
Q. Are allergic reactions to soap products
common?
A. Allergy to soaps and detergents per
se is not very common, but allergic reactions
to the fragrance, color or antibacterial ingredients
in the products may occur.
